1676 Great Spotify Tunes (9)

Do you have exciting plans for this weekend? I plan to do some more gardening, mostly building in a few new flowerbeds and planting seeds, and I have some album review posts to polish before June 1st. In the meantime, here are 15 more songs that I already featured on past playlists. You can see and listen to all of them on my spotify Starred playlist. (Playlist on spotify-http://open.spotify.com/user/128264634/starred )

  2. Paolo Nutini- “White Lies”
  3. Brother – “A Thousand Ways”
  4. Bodega – “Wagon Wheel”
  5. Rascal Flatts – “I Won’t Let Go”
  6. Thea Gilmore – “The Lower Road”
  7. Nickel Creek – “Out of the Woods”
  8. Distant Oaks – “The Lark in the Morning”
  9. Emily Smith – “Gypsy Davey”
  10. Paper Bird – “Yellow Sun”
  11. Karine Polwart – “Fall Arch”
  12. Amy Winehouse – “Love Is a Losing Game”
  13. Julie Fowlis – “Hug air a’Bhonaid Mhoir”
  14. Mama Lenny and the Remedy – “Skin”
  15. Steve Balsamo, Shawn Colvin – “I Don’t Know Why”

When I am singing Wagon Wheel, which I did occasionally at bluegrass jams for a while, the harmony part I sang was loosely inspired by the Bodega arrangement here, one of my favorites. The Thea Gilmore song in this list is probably my absolute favorite of her songs, though there are a couple others I also really love by her. Brother is an Australian band that a friend of mine from grad school recommended to me a couple years ago. And finally, the song in this list from Mama Lenny and the Remedy is one of my top 3 favorites from them, even after hearing their more recent album as well. All of these songs are fantastic in my not-so-humble opinion, but if you don’t find any of these songs appealing enough to add to your own playlists stay tuned for the next lists or check out the previous 8 posts in this series for more suggestions.
