1097Do you know where your food comes from? Most of us buy our food at shops and grocery stores where food comes packaged in plastic, cardboard or metal containers, brightly colored and labeled and containing all sorts of ingredients we know very little about. When we ‘eat out’, we look for foods that are at least as convenient as the foods we buy at grocery stores, and we get what we as for. Fast food is convenient and cheap, but we know even less about it than we know about our bags of flavored potato chips and boxed frozen dinners.

There is a lot of talk right now about the ‘evils’ of GMO’s, artificial preservatives, plastic packaging, and every other aspect of our modern food system, and some of the talk out there is really just hype and politics. But mixed in with the hype is real, important information about what we eat. Whatever you decide for yourself and your family, I think it is important to be aware of the facts, all of them or as many as I can get my hands on, to make my best, most informed choices at lunch time.
