This Weekend in FoCo: Sept. 20-22

Here are a few of the events I am aware of for this weekend. I’ll continue to update this post as I find more shows and events to add. The events listed below offer more than a weekend’s worth of music and entertainment all by themselves. Feel free to add information about shows I haven’t added yet in the comments section below.

Fort Collins events- Old Town Area- Fortoberfest Sept 20-21, FREE. This is the second year of this cool new festival celebrating what Fort Collins does best- bikes, beer and fantastic live music. Friday‘s kickoff show features 3 great local bands on the Old Town Square stage, and Saturday features two stages and LOTS of great music, plus a bike stunt riding show. 10% of event profits and 100% of tips received at this year’s FORToberfest event will be donated to local flood relief efforts.

3rd Friday Fort Collins Foodie Walk- Self-guided foodie tour in Old Town, see the Downtown Business Association page for more information.

Greeley events- Lincoln Park- My Favorite Bands Sept 20-21, the Friday night kickoff concert is free, Saturday the entrance fee is $5. The event lineup is 14 area bands (3 Friday, 11 Saturday) playing cover sets of their favorite bands. Mama Lenny & the Remedy will be there and will break out their Black Sabbath alter-egos again for this show.

The Aggie- Friday: Juno What (band website) with Genetics (band website) $12. Great dance party spot tonight.

Saturday: Due to flooding and highway closures, EOTO‘s Mishawaka Amphitheatre show for this Saturday has been moved to the Aggie Theatre – with added karma! A portion of the proceeds from this show will go to the American Red Cross. (You can also donate directly here: http://www.redcross.org/charitable-donations) EOTO will be playing 2 sets, and as always, it will be improvised live. Tickets purchased for the Mishawaka show will be honored at the Aggie.

The event that was scheduled for the Aggie this Saturday, Butch’s 2nd Annual Lures 4 Laney benefit event, was relocated, and will still be happenning THIS SATURDAY with the same great bands. The new location is RICKY B’s in Windsor. A $5 donation to Childrens Hospital Denver gets you in the door.

Avogadro’s Number – Friday: Von Stomper, 8pm, $5. These guys are high energy and make some great music to dance to. Sunday: Biodiesel for Bands benefit event- Mama Lenny and the Remedy, Carlton Pride and Mighty Zion, and The Seers. There will also be live glass blowing, kids’ activities, etc. $10. There will also be live glass blowing, kids’ activities, etc.

Dickens Opera House (Longmont) – Friday:  The Congress and The Grant Farm! This is our “DON’T MISS” show of the Fall. Two of Colorado’s ‘on the verge of breaking out’ on one stage. If you love rock n’ roll, this show is for you.

Equinox Brewing Co – Friday: Tyler T./ Jon Sadler, 6pm, FREE. One of the highlights of Friday evening this week, in my opinion. Jon plays marimba and Tyler plays the rest (percussion, electric and acoustic guitar, didgeridoo, special effects).

Hodi’s Halfnote – Friday: Wire Faces,  Snake Rattle Rattle Snake(a cool Denver band that played New West Fest this year) and Land Lines. Saturday: NoCo Flood Benefit featuring Shaley Scott Music w/ Robin Lewis of Free Range Pickens. Doors @ 8pm

Hi! Jill Brzezick is not playing Avo’s on Sunday. We are, however, having an amazing event on Sunday, with Mama Lenny and the Remedy, Carlton Pride and Mighty Zion, and The Seers. There will also be live glass blowing, kids’ activities, etc. It is going to be glorious! This is a very cool site!
